The Smart Grid Test Lab supports AEP’s activity and support of the NIST Framework and Roadmap for Smart Grid Interoperability Standards.

It incorporates attributes adopted and established by legislation, regulations, best practices, and industry-recognized standards and working groups.

The Smart Grid Test Lab focuses on the following technologies.

We test various AMI networking technologies based on knowledge and experience in network topology, security, and utility metering.

Testing of Demand Response Systems, Programmable communicating thermostats, Demand responsive appliances, Electric vehicle chargers, Home energy management systems, In-home displays,120/240 VAC Load control switches.

Environments to stage and manipulate Distribution controls for the testing of Smart Grid automation schemes and algorithms.
